Frequently asked questions

I don’t live near you – does that matter? Do we need to meet up?

Around 50% of my clients are local to me, and the other 50% are located anywhere from Scotland to the Isle of Wight. I have systems in place which allow us to work with each other remotely, and I always respond quickly to emails or phone call from my clients so that we can work together effectively. If you would like to meet up, you are very welcome to meet me at my home office, or come and say hello at an event I am attending.

Do you give help and advice regarding book-keeping?

As part of our customer service, we make sure our clients have the best book-keeping system for them. We have a standard excel template that we can send you, or we can help set you up with a free trial of our preferred accounting system solution Xero. You can also download our free book-keeping guide here .

Should I decide to go ahead with your services, what would be the next steps?

We would ask you for some personal information so that we can run our money-laundering checks, a requirement of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. Once this has cleared, we will send you an engagement letter specifying exactly the services that you require, and our responsibilities to you. We would also ask you for an initial payment at this stage. We would then send you details of everything we require to complete your accounts and tax return. At all stages, we are here to answer any questions you have if there is anything you are unsure about.

If I want to ask you questions during the year, would you charge me extra?

Amy Taylor Accountancy offers fixed fee pricing to help you budget for accountancy fees. Depending on which package you choose, our fee may include responding to ad-hoc queries you may have throughout the year which you can let us know by phone or email. Tell us more about you, and we will advise as to the best package for you.

Are you the only one in the business, or are there others that will help me?

We have a fantastic team at Amy Taylor Accountancy and it is likely that you will hear from certain members of the team during the course of our work with you. I will always remain your prime source of contact, so should you have any queries or concerns, you should bring those to me.

How quickly do you respond to emails?

Within 24 hours.  If I am on holiday, I will let you know in advance so that we can plan around any queries you may have.

How does your payment structure work? Can I spread my payments?

The majority of my clients pay by monthly standing order which helps spread the accounting fees across a 12 month period. Should you require work on a tight deadline, we would usually request a deposit followed by final payment on completion.

What if I wish to cancel your services part way through the year?

You would be given a full refund of any fees paid to us, less the value of any work completed by us to the date of cancellation.

Do I have to send you copies of all my invoices and receipts?

No, that is not necessary. I would ask for your spreadsheet or similar, indicating your income and expenditure for the year. Following this, we will ask for detailed information on the income and expenditure to ensure your accounts are correct. Should we require further information, we may ask you for original copies of certain items.
